Social Formation
A social formation is any entity (organization, movement, network) that links persons in a way that stabilizes terminology and meanings through shared discourse and practice. Examples of formations include traditions, political movements, social networks, and academic disciplines. In so far as CCCs are built into formations, they typically take on specialized meanings within and for those formations.
